WEEKLY GOSPEL READING

Sunday June 7, 2020 John 3:16-18

John 3:16-18

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

The following questions are for personal and or group reflection.

1. Observation for reflection- What word or phrase is the Spirit prompting in my heart? What word or phrase says, “I am for you today”?

2. Interpretation- What does the word or phrase mean that the Spirit is giving me?

3. Application- What is the word or phrase calling me to be or to do?

As a 17 year old at a Young Life summer camp, these verses came alive. I finally understood the lessons the Sunday School teachers and youth leaders were teaching me. Prior to that camp week, I thought the word “world” meant all the bad people. All the sinful, foul mouthed, addicted, abusive, violent people. I realized that I too am of the “world.” Gave my life to Jesus at that camp and have followed Jesus ever since.
